Position Overview:

Reporting to AutoClerk’s Senior Developer, this position will primarily be responsible for creating new applications, modules, interfaces and enhancing existing applications key to the hospitality industry. 

Description of Role:

A successful candidate will work on problems of diverse scope requiring both preparatory business and technical expertise. Solid communication skills are required. Taking the initiative to resolve issues and suggest adequate solutions is also required. Common to this role is the writing of design specifications against requirements, the development of software products, the estimation of tasks, problem solving and generation of concise written documents within a technical team environment. This software developer is responsible for translating business requirements into solutions, preparing technical specifications, encoding, testing, debugging and documenting software programs of varying complexity following the predefined standards and best practices. They will have effective communications skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of staff. They must work productively in a team and be able to learn new programming languages quickly. Also, the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize is important to this role in order to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with AutoClerk’s business partners to ensure software and interfaces are meeting the needs of AutoClerk customers.
  • Draft design documents for all new software applications
  • Document code consistently throughout the development and/or improvement process
  • Maintain extensive documentation for all projects
  • Design solutions based upon business requirements and user specification
  • Review technical solutions
  • Provide analytic and modeling skills
  • Provide 3rd tier technical support
  • Interface at an intermediate level with Business Analysts and other AutoClerk groups during the design, development and testing processes
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resource requirements
  • Review, repair, enhance and develop code
  • Participate in peer code/design reviews to ensure the delivery of quality solutions
  • Nationwide travel maybe required at times
  • Propose, establish and enforce standards, policies and procedures for team development and architecture
  • Attend training and team meetings as and when required
  • Strive to be up-to-date in best practices, development methods and technologies
  • Participate in process improvement at all times
  • Offer support to other team members and mentor
  • Other Duties assigned as needed

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years relevant programming experience with various languages and platforms with proven delivery of products/applications.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in two of Java, Delphi, C++ or other Pascal
  • Must have a good understanding of XML
  • Must have very good oral and written communication skills
  • University degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Successful candidates will have a solid background in software design and a good understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies. 

Preferred:

  • Familiar with OTA (Open Travel Alliance)
  • HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation)
  • Experience with TCIP
  • Familiar with hospitality technology
  • Local candidates highly preferred
